Thanks to its formula enriched with hyaluronic acid and mannitol, it improves joint mobility with fast-acting and long-lasting effects.
HAppyCross® – An effective solution for knee osteoarthritis
HAppyCross® is a second-generation viscosupplement designed to relieve joint pain associated with knee osteoarthritis.
Administered by intra-articular injection, it acts directly on the affected areas to provide targeted and long-lasting relief.
Proven effectiveness:
Thanks to its high concentration of hyaluronic acid and mannitol, HAppyCross® effectively relieves joint pain.
Its unique cross-linking process allows for single-injection administration, ideal for joints.
Comprehensive action:
HAppyCross® slows down the degradation of type II collagen. It meets the four criteria for the ideal viscosupplement defined by Balazs and Denlinger (1993): absence of immunogenicity, high elastoviscosity, long half-life, and optimal permeability to metabolites.
Long-lasting effectiveness:
Clinical studies have demonstrated rapid and prolonged improvement in joint function.
HAppyCross® provides long-lasting relief from osteoarthritis pain.
Optimal tolerance: Manufactured by bio-fermentation and free from animal substances, it guarantees excellent tolerance and safe use.
Guaranteed quality: Listed in Vidal and CE marked, HAppyCross® offers impeccable traceability and quality.
It meets the most demanding standards for joint health.
HAppyCross® injections must be administered by a qualified physicia
Avoid excessive use of the joint for 48 hours after the injection.
In case of pain: If pain persists for more than 3 days after an injection, contact your physician.
Before use: Read the package insert carefully for safe use.

Some health insurance providers reimburse all or part of the cost of viscosupplementation. This depends on the health insurance provider and the policy taken out.
Health insurance companies that reimburse viscosupplementation generally require a doctor’s prescription and a paid invoice. Before undergoing viscosupplementation, it is advisable to contact your health insurance company to clarify the reimbursement conditions.
Viscosupplementation involves injecting a pre-filled syringe of hyaluronic acid into a joint (usually the knee, but sometimes the hip, shoulder, ankle, hand, etc.). With some products, it may be necessary to repeat the injection over three consecutive weeks.
The patient lies down on the examination table. The doctor carefully disinfects the area to be injected and, under sterile conditions, inserts a needle into the joint, sometimes with the aid of X-ray or ultrasound guidance.
The doctor then aspirates the excess synovial fluid and slowly injects the viscosupplement into the joint. After removing the needle, the doctor carefully mobilizes the joint to distribute the product throughout the joint and then places a bandage over the injection site.
Usually, the interval between two injections is about one year. However, it can vary greatly (from six months to several years) depending on the viscosupplement used and the severity of the osteoarthritis. In severe cases of osteoarthritis, it is sometimes necessary to repeat the injection every six months.
Who can administer hyaluronic acid injections into the knee?
All doctors, and only doctors, are authorized to perform intra-articular injections of hyaluronic acid.
As it is important to have a good command of the injection technique, in the vast majority of cases they are performed by rheumatologists, orthopedic surgeons, rehabilitation specialists, and sports doctors.
While the needle passing through the skin may be painful for a few seconds, the injection itself is always painless. If the injection is painful, the needle must be repositioned correctly before continuing with the injection.

As with any injection, relative rest for 24 hours is recommended. However, this does not prevent you from moving around for everyday activities, as long as you avoid strenuous exercise, carrying heavy loads, prolonged standing, and, of course, sports. It is generally recommended to suspend sports for 4 or 5 days.
Hyaluronic acid-based viscosupplements differ considerably from one another. It is therefore completely wrong to say that they are all the same. However, it is not possible to rank viscosupplements. As with cars, there are high-end, mid-range, and entry-level products, with very different prices. In each category, your doctor will choose the one that seems best suited to your case.
The treatment of osteoarthritis is based on a combination of medication and non medication measures tailored to the type of osteoarthritis (knee, hip, hands, spine, etc.), its severity, and the characteristics of each patient (age, associated diseases, concomitant treatments).
The main drug treatments for osteoarthritis are painkillers, non-steroidal anti inflammatory drugs, slow-acting anti-osteoarthritis drugs, corticosteroid injections, and hyaluronic acid viscosupplementation.
Scientific studies show that among the treatments for osteoarthritis of the knee, the most effective are corticosteroid injections and hyaluronic acid viscosupplementation. The former are used to quickly relieve pain and inflammation. Hyaluronic acid has a slower but much longer-lasting effect (on average 1 year) than corticosteroids, which are effective for no more than 2 months.
The term “viscosupplement” refers to all hyaluronic acid solutions intended for injection into a joint. Other products that can be injected intra-articularly (corticosteroids, platelet-rich plasma) are not viscosupplements, nor are hyaluronic acid solutions for dermatological, cosmetic, or other uses.
Among viscosupplements, there is a very wide range of products that are very different from one another, with very different clinical performances and characteristics.
The doctor in charge of viscosupplementation chooses the most suitable product for each case, depending on the joint being treated, the severity of the osteoarthritis, and the objectives that have been set in advance with the patient.
There is a wide range of viscosupplements with extremely variable origins, performances, and durations of effectiveness, which explains the differences in price from one product to another. To find out the origin of the product (and not its US distributor), look for the small factory-shaped symbol usually found at the bottom of the package insert, on the last page of the distributor’s website, or on the box.
Prices vary greatly (ranging from €50 to €200) and depend on many factors. Some viscosupplements on the market are up to 200 times more viscous and elastic than others.
Some viscosupplements remain in the joint more than 10 times longer than others. These highly sophisticated products are obviously more expensive than basic products, which are less viscous and quickly eliminated from the joint.
In addition to performance, the origin of the hyaluronic acid (Asia, Europe, France) has a significant impact on the price.
Cross-linked products, which are more viscoelastic and remain in the joint much longer, are also 2 to 3 times more expensive than their non-cross-linked competitors. As viscosupplements are not reimbursed by health insurance, their price is not fixed (only recommended) and can vary considerably from one pharmacy to another.
